Search for the best car rental in Ghana and you will find plenty of confident claims and very few ways to check them. This guide gives you the questions that actually decide a good trip, from who drives to what the price covers, so you can judge any provider, including us. We are based in Accra and serve the south: Greater Accra, Kasoa and the coast to Cape Coast, not the whole country.
Ghana drives on the right, and the experience of driving here is very different from what many visitors expect. Accra's traffic can slow to a crawl at busy hours, junctions are crowded, and road conditions change once you leave the city. A car is only as useful as the person behind the wheel knows the route. So when you compare rental services, the question is less about the badge on the car and more about who drives it, how well they know where you are going, and whether the price is clear before you commit.
Driver choice matters most in Ghana. Driving in Accra takes local judgement: unmarked turnings, busy junctions and traffic that can stop without warning. A professional driver who knows the roads lets you concentrate on your work or the sights. Make sure the driver is part of the quote, not an optional extra you discover later.
Ask how well the driver knows Accra's neighbourhoods, the airport roads, and the routes out to Kasoa and Cape Coast. Someone who makes these trips regularly will plan around peak traffic and know which roads slow down at which times. Experience you can ask about is worth more than a glossy brochure.
A daily rate is only the start. Ask what it covers: fuel, tolls, the driver's time, overnight arrangements and extra hours. Get the final figure in writing before you pay. Starting rates are a useful guide, but the quote for your exact trip is what counts.
If you land at Kotoka, pickup needs to be dependable. Ask who will meet you, where, and how they handle a delayed or early flight. Clear meeting-point details and a named contact on the day save a lot of stress at arrivals.
Look before you leave. Check that the air conditioning works, the tyres look sound, the seatbelts function, and the paperwork is in the car. A clean, well-maintained vehicle matters more than a shiny one, especially on longer drives along the coast.
Good providers answer questions plainly and put the agreement in writing. Notice how quickly they reply before you book, and whether they give direct answers on price, driver and vehicle. Vague replies now usually mean problems later.
CarRentalGH is based in Accra and Kasoa. We serve Greater Accra, Kotoka International Airport, Kasoa, Cape Coast and the surrounding coast. That is our area. We are not a nationwide company, and we do not serve the far north, Kumasi or Tamale. If your trip is there, we will say so and point you toward a provider better placed to help.
Every hire includes a professional driver, so you are not learning Accra's traffic on your first day. Our starting rates are Corolla from GH₵800 a day, RAV4 from GH₵1,200, Prado from GH₵1,600 and Coaster from GH₵2,200, with Kotoka airport transfers from GH₵450. These are starting figures, so confirm your exact quote on WhatsApp at +233 24 915 1503 or by email at info@carrentalgh.com. You can pay by Mobile Money, bank transfer or cash. We do not take payment on the website.
Choose on the criteria above, not on the loudest slogan. If your trip is in Accra, Kasoa, Cape Coast or along the coast, message us on WhatsApp at +233 24 915 1503 or email info@carrentalgh.com for a written quote. Every hire includes a professional driver. If you are travelling outside our area, we will tell you plainly and point you toward a provider better placed to help.
